So. This blog could be going better. But it has been a productive silence.

I would show you, but I still hate my personal website. I'm rebuilding it again. With any luck, I'll stop picking at it long enough to upload some of my latest projects.

Freelancing is very much what I expected, and at the same time it has challenges that I didn't expect. I knew that I would get to set my own schedule, but I didn't know that my surroundings would totally interfere with my plans. Laundry, family, cats, groceries... Even with a room dedicated to work, I still miss the physical distance between work and home life created by going to an office.

On the other hand, I get to wear a tee shirt and yoga pants. Yoga pants are a definite bonus.

Hello world

I'm not much of a writer, but I am starting a blog anyway. This will be a space dedicated to works in progress; things that I find nifty or interesting related to art & design; rants about working for exposure and the widespread problem of undervaluing artists and artists undervaluing themselves; and the occasional tidbit about myself that takes place beyond the computer screen.

I haven't yet decided whether or not I will keep comments enabled, because right now my favorite things on the Internet are publications that don't allow comments. It's nice to be able to read something and not have it immediately followed up with insults, screaming, death threats, spam offers for incredible jobs and amazing diet pills, "facts," and promises of salvation if only the correct deity gets their daily intake of prayer.

I might also toss in a few articles I find around the web, such as the story about recovering and digitally recreating the beautiful Doves Type. 

So. Coming up first (and soon!) I'm going to share a couple of things with you yaaaay. The first will be a collaborative effort on a wedding invite, and the next is a website for an upcoming gaming marathon charity fund raiser.
